Another three yellow polishes!

Oh my! The extremely hot weather here in Vancouver is driving me crazzzy. I think I'm going to melt soon. : ( It's 33 degrees Celsius right now, but it feels like 38! What's more? At the moment, we're renovating the exterior of our home and we can't even open the windows because they're all covered in plastic wrap. AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!. I don't like global warming! *sniff*sniff* : (

ANYWAYS, I promised that I'll post a few more yellow swatches a long time ago and here they are finally! Yay!

First up, Orly Spark!

I originally got this polish for a pastel yellow franken, but this is a gorgeous colour on it's own as well! The formula is great, same with all other Orlys. I used three coats for bottle colour in the pictures. : )

Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Lightening

I think this is what you call a taxicab yellow. : ) It is brighter and bolder compared to Orly Spark. However, I really disliked the brush in this one because it's flat and awkwardly shaped. I understand it was designed so that you can apply the polish in just one stroke with full coverage already, but unforturnately this did not happen. First of all, the polish is very thick and streaky; it takes at least three coats to cover up the all the sheer spots. Moreover, they're also needed to fix and shape the polish around the cuticles because of the defective brush. In spite of my terrible experience with this, I have also heard good things about it from other nail polish fanatics. So maybe the brush just did not work with the shape of my nails. : )

OPI The "It" Color NL B66

A very beautiful mustard yellow. : ) I loved the jelly formula on this one because it is very easy to apply and it looks amazing! This was released in OPI's Mod About Brights Collection last year so it should be readily available everywhere. : )

Rescue Beauty Lounge Bikini Bottom

When I first saw Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spongebob Collection last year, I knew I had to have all of them. :D Not only because I'm a big Spongebob fan, but the colours are simply amazing! The three polishes were immediately on the top on my lemming list! However, RBL charges a fortune for international shipping and there was no way I was going to pay for it. So for the next few months, I was practically dreaming about these everyday. I waited and waited for a miracle to happen and finally...TA-DA! My three best friends decided to go on a trip to New York! I would've gone with them too but my sisters and I have already planned another trip to Tokyo and Hong Kong which was to occur during the same time. My girlfriends ended up getting me the three Spongebobs: Bikini Bottom, Square Pants, and Starfish Patrick, along with another three that I have also requested which includes Grunge, Purple Haze, and Opaque Nude. I can never thank them enough as they literally travelled across town to the other side of the city from where they stayed and also devoted a great deal of their precious time looking for the place. LOVEEeee!<3
So here we have Bikini Bottom, a light, watery blue. : ) I love how it looks on the nails, it's such a gorgeous colour! The polish is incredibly smooth and easy to apply but it is also very sheer and requires five coats for the bottle colour. I will definitely use a ridgefiller or layer it over white next time. : ) Nevertheless, I love this polish to pieces and without doubt it has become one of my favourites. : D

My First Gradient!

Yay! So, let's get things started! I couldn't wait to show you guys this gradient mani I did yesterday. ^_^

I used OPI Kiss on the Chic for the base colour, Coffret D'Or PK-151 for the gradient, and Coffret D'Or SV-14 as a glitter top coat for a more sparkly effect. :D Just in case you couldn't see them clearly in the photo, Kiss on the Chic is a sheer light pink, PK-151 is a sheer salmon pink with lots of holographic glitter, and SV-14 is a sheer silver that's also packed with all sorts of glitter. :D For those of you who are unfamiliar with Coffret D'Or, it is a Japanese makeup line produced by Kanebo Cosmetics. Their website has some great ideas and techniques for both gradients and nail art, so please make sure you check them out when you get a chance to! : )

I love the end result as the colours seemed to have blended together very smoothly. The process was a lot easier than I had anticipated. I can't wait to try more gradients now! :D

Orly Mint Mojito

Yay! Another green! I've been wanting to post this one for a long time. These pictures were taken a while back when my nails were a bit shorter. Mint Mojito is more of an apple green rather than a minty one (as I had anticipated). However, it's still a very fun colour to wear for the summer. The application is good but a little runny, I used three coats in the pictures. : )

Essie Greenport

I promised Olivia that I was going to swatch this for her...so here it is! :D


Greenport is basically a greener version of China Glaze For Audrey. : ) The two colours are very similar indeed, maybe I should take a comparison picture of the two. : ) The formula on this one is perfect and it applied like a dream.

Greenport was recently released along with Shelter Island and Sag Harbour in the North Fork Collection. : )

China Glaze Octa Gone Wild

I've been wanting to try Octa Gone Wild for a long time, but didn't get a chance to until now. : ) It's a beautiful purple polish that has large specks of holographic glitter in it. Octa Gone Wild looks AMAZING in the sun (same with all other holographics : D ), but for some reason my camera wasn't able to capture it properly. It looks a hundred times more gorgeous in real life than in the pictures! : D

I believe China Glaze has recently discontinued this beauty along with the rest of the polishes in their Kaleidoscope Collection. So get them while you still can because they are simply to die for. : )

OPI DS Glamour DS 018

Here is OPI DS Glamour, a polish that I have been lemming for the longest time. : ) I tried looking everywhere for it, but it was nowhere to be found; it wasn't even in stock at any of the e-tailers. : ( Right when I was about to succumb and purchase it on ebay, I found it in a clearance bin at my local Trade Secret! :D I ended up getting this along with DS Fantasy, another one that I've been wanting, and DS Exclusive. :D

The formula on Glamour is very smooth, pigmented; and only requires two coats to be opaque. : ) I applied another coat to it just because I'm a habitual three coater but it didn't make any differences to the colour. : )

My Minnie Mouse Manicure : D

Here is my first attempt at nail art; I called this my Minnie Mouse manicure. (Don't you think it looks like it with the red tips and white polka dots?) :D I recently saw this design in a Japanese nail magazine and really wanted to try it out. I'm actually quite happy with the results considering it's my first time. : ) I'm trying to work on my right hand now as I'm typing this post. Teeheehee! :D

I used OPI Big Apple Red for the tips and OPI Alpine Snow for the polka dots. The silver glitter was a no name brand that I picked up at a Japanese dollar store; it has a very thin brush specially made for nail art. : ) There are so many more designs that I want to try out from the magazine. Japanese nail art is simply amazing! I'm loving it!<3

The Face Shop Nail Colordium 601

Today I have an adorable baby blue creme to show you all. :D It's The Face Shop Nail Colordium 601. The Face Shop is a Korean cosmetics brand for those of you who are unfamiliar with it. They make a wide variety of nail polishes that come in very unique colours. The formula on this one is pretty good, very smooth and pigmented. However, I didn't really like the brush as it's a bit too thin and stiff making it difficult to paint and shape around the cuticles. Other than that, it's a great polish! I'm planning to visit my local store tomorrow to see what new colours they have in. :D

OPI Do You Lilac It? NL B29

I lied, I can't wait until Friday to post. XD

Do You Lilac It? was totallly love at first sight! I wonder why I didn't get this earlier? It's such a pretty purple! I used three coats in the pictures. : )

I love this colour so much, I got matching heels for it too! Teeheehee! :D It's not a dead on dupe, but close enough. Hahaha! :D

OPI Gargantuan Green Grape NL B44

Gargantuan Green Grape is a light yellow-green that requires four coats in order to be opaque. I adore this colour, actually I adore all shades of light green, it's my favourite colour! Teeheehee! :D Too bad they don't make a lot of nail polishes in light green. I wonder why? Hmm.. 

Anyway, I will not be able to post until Friday because I have a really important exam coming up this week. : ( I'd like to apologize in advance if I don't get a chance to respond to your comments and emails right away as I will be busy studying. : (

Anna Sui 306

Here is my first Anna Sui nail polish. : ) I have always been a fan of the the brand because of their lovely rose scented products and cute packaging. #306 is a light salmon pink that has various kinds of glitter scattered around in the polish. Some are holographic and square shaped, others are red and round. Like all of their other products, this polish is also scented with the brand's signature rose perfume as well. The polish is quite sheer, I needed four coats for the bottle colour. However, you can also use it as a glitter top coat and layer it over other colours as well. : )

More Yellows!

As I promised, here are a few more yellow nail polishes! : D

NYX Carnation

Carnation is a beautiful pastel yellow creme, however it has all the application issues of a typical yellow nail polish. The polish is awfully runny and streaky, making it very difficult to apply. I had to use five coats in the pictures. (Will definitely use a ridgefiller or layer it over white next time.) Other than its unpleasant formula, it's a very pretty colour don't you think? :D So soft and buttery! <3

Finger Paints Yellow Bikini

Yellow Bikini was also a nightmare to apply, it had the same application issues as Carnation but maybe a tad bit better. : ) It's a soft banana yellow with a sheen of golden shimmer in it. The shimmer makes the polish almost glow on the nails. Very unique indeed! : )

Essie Shorty Pants

I like this colour a lot more than I thought I would originally. It's the happy face yellow :D, so bright and cheerful! I recently got this at my local Trade Secret for 60% off. The formula on this one is way better than expected, it is still somewhat streaky but was good to go in three coats! :D
