I ♥ Dolly Wink!

Dolly Wink is a popular eye make-up brand produced by Japanese supermodel Tsubasa Masuwaka. I read on A lil bit of eki that she recently launched a new nail polish collection as well! ♥ Thank you so much for posting about these Eki!

The collection is consisted of ten cremes, four glitters, plus top and base coats. I'm super excited and can't wait to get my hands on these cuz my sister promised to pick some up for me when she visits Tokyo in September! :D

Anyway, there are some nail art ideas on the website so I decided to try one of them out! (I Google translated the tutorial just in case you were wondering about the funny English. Lol!)

I adore the design, it's a very cute and girly alternative to the traditional French manicure. n_n

And here's my take on the nails...is it just me or did the cuteness factor immediately disappear for some odd reason? Heh...o_O

I didn't want to use a pink creme for the base colour so I stuck with my favourite French mani polishes, Essie Marshmallow and Essie Mademoiselle.

And of course a step-by-step tutorial...= )
Photobucket

1. Paint nail with a sheer pink base.

2. Next, paint the tip with a soft white polish. Haha, this kinda looks like draped curtains, very different from the traditional French tips indeed.

3. Lastly, paint on polka dots along the French tip. Notice that the middle one is slightly bigger than the rest.

And while we're at it...

Dolly Wink is most famous for their black liquid eyeliner and their many false eyelashes sets. Their most popular set is No. 1 in Dolly Sweet, voted the favourite by five thousand Japanese girls in a recent Popteen issue. n_n

And this is how they look when you have them on...

The lashes may look really heavy but they're actually not. I could barely feel that I was wearing anything when I had them on. The lashes are very well made and I totally recommend them to all of you. =)

Side note: I never really found a need to wear false eyelashes because my natural lashes are fairly long already. They don't have much volume to them but a lil mascara could fix that up. And then I started following some beauty blogs and realized the tremendous difference falsies could make. I really like how they open up your eyes and make them look so much bigger. Do you ladies like the look of false eyelashes as well? If so, which kinds are your favourite? Any brands that you prefer? I'd love to hear what you ladies think!

Love you all and thank you so much for stopping by! :D

  1. Wow those nail polishes look adorable. Both the colours and the bottles.

I love the french mani variation. It looks so cute and original compared to the usual design.

I really love falsies. My favourites are the Shu Uemura ones with the swarovski crystals. I like my falsies super blingy I guess.

If you would like, take a look at my blog, I am hosting my first giveaway :)

  7. Hey Wan! They're cute in the tutorial (totally don't understand the Engrish LMAO) but on you they're more soft and delicately pretty :) I actually like yours better haha!

As for the lashes... I think "dramatic" falsies like the ones you are wearing can be pulled off because you have double eyelids and rather big eyes :) I haven't tried these but I have another pair of "scary" looking lashes and they do look scary on my narrow eyes :( So I'm on the hunt for natural lashes hehe~

  8. Cel- I know right? I'm really looking forward to trying them! I wonder how the formula and application are on these.

Ooo..I really wanna try the Shu lashes too but they're so pricey. Then again, you can re-use them for as long as you want if you keep them in good shape. Lol! Best excuse ever! XD

Danielle- Thank you so much for dropping by Danielle! How have you been? I love this design too, it's soooo cute! I would totally post a picture of myself but that requires *a lot* of courage. Lol! Miss you lots!

natasha1821- Thank you! I love how there are only a few simple steps to such an adorable mani!

Jen- Haha, definitely try the falsies out! They make a world of difference! n_n

MISS BUN- Aww...thank you so much Nikki! You're so sweet!

  9. Mia- Thank you! I absolutely adore the packaging! I think it's cuz I've always had a thing for polka dots but still it's sooo cute! ^-^

shirley- Haha, yea the translation is kinda...off. At least I was able to pick up a few keywords. Lol!

Perhaps try the shorter criss-cross ones if you like more natural falsies? Daiso has a pretty good selection if you don't want to splurge. Hehe, go check it out when you have time! n_n

  15. 'chelle- Thank you!! I'm sure you'll be able to do these too! You do such great jobs on your Konads! This is nothing! =)

And yeah, definitely try some Dolly Wink out! I like how they're designed to look like you have different types of lashes layered together! So prettty omg! =)

Miss Queenie- I think these are available for sale online at sasa.com, but they're always out if stock. =( There are eight sets in total with both upper and lower lashes! I hope this helps! Good luck finding them!! :D

Jen- I'm really glad you like them! Please post a picture when you do try these out! : )

emily- You have such an awesome friend! I find that there is a greater selection of falsies for sale in japan and they're usually very affordable too! I think it's cuz they're really into the Asian dolly eye look with lots of lashes. =)

  16. Super cute polishes!
I really love the french design you did. Actually the toothpick trick was something we used quite often when I worked in the salon.
I do like the false lashes too, I just can NEVER get them to work for me. Im considering latisse or maybe professionally done falsies. But its a big investment
