OPI Big Apple Red N25

Big Apple Red is absolutely my favouriteee red nail polish! This is the one I would reach for whenever I want to put on something bold, classic, and chic. If you've been following me for some time, you would've seen me use this for some of my nail art designs as well such as my Minnie Mouse Manicure, my Vancouver 2010 Olympics Mani, and also for one of my Nautical themed manis. =]

Seriously, you can never go wrong with a classic red creme like Big Apple Red. Moreover, it applies like a dreammm and is opaque in two thin coats. :D

So what do you ladies think of red nail polish? I know of lot of people are really afraid to try them thinking they're too attention grabbing, racy, etc. The girls will be like "I really like the colour on you, but I don't think I'll be able to wear it myself." Well, I think I sort of understand how they feel because I used to be like that too, but you will never know until you've tried it out right? I personally loveeed it after wearing it for the first time. PLUS, there must be a reason why every time OPI introduces a new collection, at least half of them are red. ;) Anyway, I'd love to hear what you ladies think!

Wet n Wild Wild Shine Blazed

Blazed is a fun and vibrant coral creme with pink undertones. Depending on the lighting, it may lean towards a warm pastel orange as well. Opaque in two coats. =]

Wet n Wild is for sure one of my favourite drugstore brands. They have lots of colours to choose from with seasonal releases once in awhile and their formula is always amazing! Even though their skinny brushes may be a little hard to work with but it's only a dollar or two so what more can you ask for?

Hello Kitty shaped strawberry♥

Isn't this the CUTEST thing ever? ♥♥♥

Just in case you're wondering, I was wearing several coats of Revlon Slipper layered over Revlon All Fired Up from their limited edition Fire & Ice Collection. =)

Nail Max February 2011 Issue

Here are some spreads from the February issue of Nail Max!

Please click on the photos to enlarge! Enjoy! ^o^

This is actually one of the few Nail Max's that I've purchased in a while. When it comes to Japanese nail art magazines, I have always been a bigger fan of Nail UP! and Nail Venus because of the more colourful designs and cuter layout. However, I'm actually quite impressed with this issue of Nail Max because it contains quite a few very inspiring designs that I'm dying to try out! :D

Claire's Mixables Hawaii

Photobucket

I would say Hawaii is a pastel pink neon if there's such a thing lol. As you can see, there are four layers of colour in the bottle but only the pink shows up with occasional streaks of orangey yellow when applied on the nails. The formula is a little on the thick side and I had to apply three coats to cover up all the sheer spots.

Photobucket

I picked up this polish while shopping with a friend at the mall a few months ago. When he saw this and all the other Mixables, he was really surprised to find out that the different layers were not mixed together and asked me how they did it. I was like "Er...how am I supposed to know? YOU'RE the Chemistry major!" And then he went on trying to explain it in all these scientific terms that made no sense to me obviously. =P But I think it's something along the lines of um.... the layers of polish have different densities so diffusion will not be able to take place; therefore, they will not mix together unless you want to destroy the layers and physically stir it or shake it yourself. Kinda interesting eh? ; )

Chanel Particuliere 505 Comparisons

From left to right: Chanel Particulière, OPI Over the Taupe, Sally Hansen Commander in Chic, Rimmel Steel Grey

Photobucket

I would say OPI Over the Taupe is the closest colour to Particulière in this swatch. Even though Commander in Chic and Steel Grey are widely known as near dupes, they are slightly cooler in tone and do not apply as well as the other two.

Chanel Particulière was first introduced in the Les Contrastes des Chanel Collection in Spring 2010 and is now a part of their permanent nail polish line due to its immense popularity.

Bottles are in the same order as swatches.

Some pictures from my trip!

I just thought I ought to share some pictures from my trip to Tibet and Nepal with you guys. After all, it was because of this that I took such a long break away from blogging!

Anyway, I highly recommend you travelling to the Himalayas! The scenery was truly breathtaking as you can see in the pics and the local people there were incredibly friendly. Overall, I thought it was an incredible experience despite suffering from acute mountain sickness, but I would love to travel there again someday!

While I was gone...

I was selected as one of the Top Manicure and Pedicure Blogs by Cosmetology School....

cosmetologyschool.org

and also one of the Top 50 Nail Blogs by Spa Beauty Schools.

Top 50 Nail Blogs

I'd like to express my gratitude to the staff on both sites! Thank you so so much for the awards, they truly mean a lot to me! :D

I also wrote a guest post for Grazia Daily back in September. I was away from home at the time and didn't have my nail polish nor supplies with me; therefore, I came up with an entry along with some pictures from my previous posts. Thank you so much for providing me with this wonderful opportunity Lauren and Rose! =)

Just A Little Rösti At This

These swatches are from way back in August. Now that I look at them again, I actually think my nails were a lil too long back then. I've kept them quite short in the past few months, not to the point where they are nubbins, but definitely much shorter than how they look in these pictures. Honestly, I think I like them a lot more now! I'll post some pictures as soon as I get a chance! Thanks for reading! =)
